Chapter 1: Introduction
Overview
Welcome to the latest version of the Magnum Router GUI manager and Magnum Router
firmware upgrade revision E.
Western NRG is always listening to our clients who suggest additions that they want to see in
our product, along with our continuing commitment to improving the Magnum Router product.
The GUI manager 2.5 and firmware update revision E is the latest in our attempt to give the end
user the most versatile and robust frame-relay switch and router on the market today.
What’s new in this version
The most exciting addition to the Magnum Router is the ability to now use dynamically assigned
IP addresses for VoIP.
This new function, named DVoIP (Dynamic Voice over IP) enhances MVoIP by giving the ability
to use inside private addresses coupled with dynamically assigned ISP addresses for VoIP.
Previously, the Magnum Router required at least 2 public IP addresses in order to make the
MVoIP function. This is no longer the case when DVoIP is used.
Only the host location requires static public IP addresses, where the remote locations can use
inside private addresses assigned to the Ethernet port. The host Magnum Router will
automatically re-configure itself to use the dynamic address assigned through a DSL or similar
connection. This saves the end user money (as more IP addresses do not have to be
purchased), and makes implementing the Magnum Router into your network an easier task.
Requirements
Before installation of the new GUI manager on any PC, it is required that any previous versions
be removed.
Instructions on software installation can be found in chapter 5 of the Magnum Router 2.0
manual.
